Kuala Lumpur - Oct 2003 - Mydin, a household name in Malaysia , recently concluded an evaluation process that resulted in the selection of K2.net 2003 as the Enterprise Workflow Platform to complement their .NET strategy.
Mydin Mohammed Holdings is the largest wholesaler in Malaysia . Founded in 1956, Mydin employs over 3000 people across 18 retail branches nationwide and has annual revenues of more than USD100million.
Mydin's foray into Microsoft technology started with a large scale project to automate some of their policies and procedures. Phase I of the project started sometime ago with the objective to establish the groundwork for a robust portal solution. Microsoft SharePoint™ Portal Server 2003 was selected as the platform to provide Mydin employees with valuable features such as communication and collaboration, news and announcements publication, document management, site search and information retrieval.
atQuest Solution , who is a Microsoft and K2.net preferred partner, was tasked to implement the above portal. In addition, atQuest also designed and developed two line-of-business applications that were tightly integrated into the portal. Building on the strong foundation of the very successful Phase I, Mydin went searching for a robust and scalable .NET-based workflow platform to complement the current portal deployment. Phase II of Mydin's automation project aims to extend the capabilities of the portal to include vertical business applications and business intelligence. For this to materialize, K2.net was evaluated and selected.
K2.net 2003, from SourceCode Technologies Inc, will form the backbone for process automation and management, providing relevant workflow services like business rules definition, routing, workflow item distribution, task management, escalation and work notification.
"K2.net is the platform of choice for workflow automation on .NET. K2.net is not only a very powerful workflow engine, but also extensively integrated to various Microsoft technologies like SharePoint Portal Server 2003 and SQL Server 2000. This enables us to rapidly deploy the various critical applications required by Mydin," explains Mr. Justin Tee , Managing Consultant for atQuest Solution.
"We selected K2.net because it enables us to concentrate on providing solutions to our business, and not the code behind it," says Mr. Malik Murad Ali, head of IT at Mydin Mohammed Holdings.
"Business Process is the core of agile and innovative companies. K2.net will provide a robust and flexible workflow platform to run Mydin's business processes, which we hope will enable Mydin to outperform their competition by optimizing cost and increasing the speed of service delivery to customers," says Mr. Weng-Him Koh, Managing Director of SourceCode Asia Pacific.
Phase II of this initiative is targeted to go live on 1st December 2004.
